Lake Wissota is located 5 miles east of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin on off of County Road X. Exits for Lake Wissota are also accessible from Highway 29, east of Chippewa Falls.

Lake Wissota was formed in 1915 from a small pond into a 6,024 acre lake with a depth of 72 feet by the Wisconsin Minnesota Power Company as a tool in producing hydroelectric power.

Lake Wissota is a popular destination for many activities. Home of Lake Wissota State Park, many campgrounds, hiking, biking and snowmobile trials, fine restaurants, and bed and breakfasts. The state park is located off of County Highway O, on the north side of Lake Wissota.

Apple blossoms in the spring and harvest in the fall at the Lafayette Apple Orchards is always a scenic drive. Drive south on County Highway J to visit the Apple Orchards.



Lake Wissota State Park is located on the North East side of the lake providing an excellent opportunity for a camping/boating getaway. The park is open year round and contains 81 camping sites, bathrooms with running water and showers, nature trails, a boat ramp, and 300 feet of swimming beach with picnic area. The campground is usually booked on the weekends so be sure to call for reservations or go on a weekday.

Winter sports which may be enjoyed include winter camping and cross-country skiing. Restrooms are complete with showers, and handicapped facilities are provided. A cafe, concession, and playground are all conveniently located. Group tent camping facilities are available and reservations are accepted. Electrical hookups are available for a nominal fee.

Season runs from April through October, however it is open for some off-season weekends. A vehicle admission sticker is required and may be purchased at the park office or contact station.
